Noah and the Ark - Part 1
In Genesis Chapter 6, the human race
began to grow, and grow, and grow and there were lots of people doing bad
things. Yahweh was getting pretty upset with them. He was "grieved" that He had
even made man! Can you imagine how upset our Father was?
There was a man named Noah who
found favor in the eyes of Yahweh (Genesis 6:8). What do you think it means
to "find favor" in someone's eyes?
We will pick up the story of Noah in
Genesis, Chapter 7:
Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go into the ark, you and your whole
family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you
seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind
of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird,
male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven
days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and
I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made,
(Genesis 7:1-4, New International Version).
Why do you think Noah was told to
take "seven" pair of every clean animal? Do you know what a "clean" animal is? Can
you tell which ones below are clean and unclean?
Noah did all that Yahweh commanded
him to do, just like we need to do all that Yahweh tells us to do and, for
children, that means to do just what your parents ask you to. Yahweh did exactly
what He said He would do! And it rained and rained and rained!
